Professor Stephanie Lacour, Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Neuroprosthetic Technology, and NCCR Robotics PI, to succeed Professor Olaf Blanke as Director of the Center for Neuroprosthetics.
Professor Olaf Blanke has been at the helm of the Center for Neuroprosthetics (CNP) since 2012. He hands over the Direction of the Center to Professor Stéphanie Lacour on February 1st 2018.
Olaf Blanke holds the Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Cognitive Neuroprosthetics. He is Professor at the School of Life Sciences where he leads the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Professor of Neurology at the University of Geneva. In six years as Director, Olaf Blanke launched and drove the CNP to become a major actor in research and clinical translation of EPFL excellence in neuroscience and neuroengineering. Notably, he successfully transferred the activities of the CNP to Campus Biotech in Geneva, and established key alliances in the development of a clinical research network throughout the Lemanic region and beyond. His vision and unique insights lead the CNP to major successes in the realm of education and industrial transfer of neuroprosthetic technologies.
Stéphanie Lacour holds the Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Neuroprosthetic Technology. She is Professor at the School of Engineering and leads the Laboratory of Soft Bioelectronic Interfaces. She is a founding member of the Center for Neuroprosthetics and an advocate for its interdisciplinary research. Professor Lacour brings cutting edge expertise in soft materials science and engineering to the CNP as well as innovative perspectives to help develop and deploy neuroprosthetic medicine.
